The thing that you all need to realize, is that this is a CRISIS RECOVERY CENTER. It is, for lack of a better term, a psychiatric emergency room. It is not a long term care facility. And the fact that you cant leave all has to do with why you are there. They are required, by law, to hold you there if you say anything that deems you dts/dto. (Danger to self/Danger to others) If they let you leave after you made a statement that you wanted to die or anything that could be interpretted as such and you go out and kill yourself, they would be in SO much trouble. All these reviews sound like theyre from people that are throwing a fit because they didnt get their way. Also, if you have been brought in by the police youre usually under petition. In which case, you see a provider (when one is available because they arent there 24/7) and the provider decides whether to drop the petition and let you go to a voluntary facility, or to drop it and let you go home, or to keep it and you go to Desert Vista, in which case you will see 2 other doctors who decide whats best for you and then you go in front of a judge. This usually results in being on court ordered mental health care. Anyway, back to PRC, there are beds there but not everyone gets one. It is a short term care facility and if you are there more than 24 hours waiting for a bed at a longer term care facility then they give you a bed. And to the man saying that some staff are patients who are stuck there until their supervisor decides they can leave, that is absolutely incorrect. Some staff have previously been patients there and they can leave whenever they want though they usually stay for their whole shifts just like any other job. As far as the food goes, hospital food is never good. The staff there are doing their best to help. But a lot of the people that are there are there because they are refusing care after making statements that deem them dts/dto. IT IS THE LAW forthem to hold you whether you agree or not. Voluntary care in a mental health setting only determines where you go. But every mental health care facility is locked down, voluntary or not, and if you try to leave or try to ama (leave against medical advice) you usually get petitioned and dropped off at this place that youre all giving bad reviews to. The staff are not power hungry they are just doing their jobs as the law requires.

I didn't see anything remotely resembling some of these negative reviews. I found the staff to be great. Especially Santiago. What a caring man he is. No recliners here, brand new beds, and excellent caseworkers that genuinely want you to succeed.
