Family Workshop has a lot of very good counselors that are very sweet and will help you with personalized care. At the time that I went, a couple years ago, they only had one or two providers that prescribed medication so I had to have an outside referral to someone else for med refills. They also didn't take credit cards, so I had to pay my copay with either cash or check.

Family Workshop has been extremely helpful with several people that I have referred to them. In each case Family Workshop was able to help the individuals in gaining control of their problems and improving their life and the life of all of those family and friends around them. I highly recommend Family Workshop and Jeff Burrows, the Founder and President.

Family Workshop is without a doubt the most flexible, easy-access care for counseling and therapy services in Albuquerque. They see people for all issues, regardless of ability to pay, and what I consider most important - very quickly with little delay as they have a large staff of both highly qualified and highly educated counselors and therapists. In times of crisis, quick access to care is absolutely critical and nearly impossible to find in New Mexico besides at an emergency room. I have seen all walks of life at Family Workshop (Albuquerque location) and can say that compared to other counseling practices in the Albuquerque area, they are a huge asset to the community as I have never seen some of the type of patients (unruly, difficult to work with staff, etc.) at other counseling practices as they would be deemed to difficult to work with and dismissed as a client. For example, Sage Neuroscience will not consider you for acceptance as a client if you miss one appointment. All patients are dealt with respectfully and with dignity from my experiences as a client waiting for my appointment. The ability to easily access counseling services is one that should not be taken for granted as New Mexico severely under funds monetary allocations for mental healthcare for New Mexicans. The ability to see a counselor or therapist within the day in most cases, is unheard of at other practices. The typical wait time for an appointment at other mental healthcare practices is usually one-month at minimum with very strict rules on cancellations and insurance acceptance. Family Workshop accepts Medicaid (nearly all other mental health care practices do not) and is flexible with clients with regards to last minute cancellations and late arrival due to transportation, child care issues, and the like. I am truly surprised at the other reviews. I have been a client of Family Workshop for nearly 4 years and have been greatly helped in growth toward resolving issues that have interfered with my life. The counselors are non-judgmental and do not discriminate against any of the clients referred to or seen there. Most medical practices that accept Medicaid have a bad reputation and are not places where those with private insurance choose to seek treatment, however, I strongly support Family Workshop's commitment to helping anyone in the community. Even though I could go elsewhere for care, I choose to go to Family Workshop as I support their mission and the care I have received has been helpful towards achieving my therapeutic goals. If you need access to counseling services, I strongly recommend Family Workshop. (Also, I felt compelled to write a thorough review as the other reviews posted are short and do not provide much of an explanation for the grievances cited. I tend to ignore one sentence reviews that do not offer any tangible examples of services received. I hope this helps to better understand the services and level of care offered at Family Workshop. Good luck in your journey, wherever you choose to seek help.)
