We get better care than in Hickory. That doctor did a race listening to hubby's heart & lungs. Sat there reading xray notes saying that the screw, put in his shoulder 40+ years ago, couldn't come loose. Wrong answer per ortho doctors.

Been going to the Charles George VA since 1992 and watched it go from average/mediocre to one of the best VA's in the country. I have been to others and none even come close. Sure there are issues, what hospital or clinic doesn't have issues, but if you are patient and work with the staff there you will get the care you need. Treat them bad or act out, well just do not do that. We vets have a variety of needs that can not be met out in the private sector where waiting lines are long and test results take forever so please tell your elected officials.... DO NOT PRIVATIZE THE VA.

My husband received excellent care. The ER employees were wonderful as well as the nurses on fifth floor west. Karen the night nurse really went above and beyond being helpful. Need more nurses like her everywhere.

The staff here shows concern and caring for our veterans. My husband has had the very best care available anywhere. The doctors and nurses are extremely thorough. One possible caveat might be that too many people from other locales come all the way to Asheville when there is another facility nearer to them because this hospital is cleaner and the service is much better which causes an overload on our wonderful facility here in Asheville, NC. It takes time to catch up and they never stop trying at the Charles George VA Medical Center.

I have had 2 proceedures done at Asheville over the past 3 years. I find the Doctors and Staff to be excellent. When one hears some of the horror stories about some other VA facilities rest assured that Asheville excells in quality, caring and professional service. I can't find enough good things to say about them!
