Treatment At Western Montana Mental Health Center - Dakota Place

Conditions Treated

Mental health treatment:

Mental health treatment involves a range of therapeutic approaches, provided by licensed professionals, to address mental health challenges. It includes psychotherapy, medication, and holistic practices to help individuals manage conditions, improve coping skills, and enhance overall well-being. The goal is to empower individuals to lead fulfilling lives and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.

Levels Of Care

Hospital inpatient treatment:

Inpatient treatment includes an all-encompassing residential therapeutic regimen, during which patients reside on-site for a period usually spanning 30 to 90 days. Within this immersive setting, individuals receive structured assistance, prioritizing their safety and fostering a dedication to recovery. The treatment modalities offered may include individual and group counseling, cognitive-behavioral therapy, holistic interventions, family therapy sessions, as well as experiential therapies. The overarching objective is to comprehensively address the physical, emotional, and psychological dimensions of addiction or mental health disorders, establishing a resilient groundwork for long-term healing.

Treatment Modalities

Family counseling:

Family Counseling is a therapeutic service that addresses and resolves conflicts, improves communication, and fosters better relationships within a family unit. Through guided discussions, a trained counselor helps family members gain insight into their dynamics, learn coping strategies, and work towards creating a harmonious living environment. Family Counseling can be a significant step towards improving the overall emotional health and interactions among family members, helping them navigate challenges together in a supportive and constructive manner.

Individual psychotherapy:

In individual therapy, a person engages in a one-on-one session with a qualified therapist or counselor. This therapeutic approach is crucial in successful substance abuse treatment because it delves into the underlying causes of addiction, addressing issues the individual may encounter in their familial, social, and professional or academic environments.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a evidence-based psychological treatment that focuses on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and behaviors. It aims to develop coping strategies and promote healthier thinking to address a variety of mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, and stress. CBT is typically short-term and goal-oriented, emphasizing the role of thought processes in influencing emotions and behaviors.

Group counseling:

Group therapy entails therapeutic sessions conducted in a collective setting rather than one-on-one. It encompasses various modalities, from support groups and experiential therapy to psycho-education and beyond. The approach focuses on treatment and emphasizes the dynamic interactions and shared experiences among group members.

Experiential Therapy:

Experiential Therapy is a therapeutic approach that encourages individuals to identify and address hidden or subconscious issues through activities, actions, and direct experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy, this method involves engaging in activities, role-playing, and other interactive techniques to garner emotional expression and self-discovery. By placing individuals in relevant situations, therapists can observe their behaviors and emotions in real-time, allowing for immediate feedback and insight. Through this interactive process, individuals can better understand their feelings and behaviors, develop coping mechanisms, and work towards resolving personal conflicts.

Nutrition Therapy:

Nutrition therapy is a tailored dietary approach to managing and preventing certain medical conditions. Administered by registered dietitians or nutrition professionals, it involves the assessment of an individual's nutritional status and the development of personalized nutrition strategies to optimize health and manage specific health concerns.

Marital/couples counseling:

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Trauma-related counseling:

Trauma-related counseling is a specialized form of therapeutic intervention aimed at assisting individuals who have experienced distressing, life-altering events. This approach focuses on helping clients process their traumatic experiences, develop coping mechanisms, and rebuild a sense of safety and trust. Counselors trained in trauma therapy use evidence-based techniques to support healing and resilience, ensuring survivors can move forward and lead fulfilling lives despite their past adversities.

Western Montana Mental Health Center - Dakota Place Reviews

Sorry to say this but Dakota Place is not really that good of a place to go if you need med changes or actually want to talk to professionals. It is a great place to go if you just want to crash for a few days. There are staff on duty, but to actually talk to a human, besides other clients, you have to wait to see the MHP via Zoom, all med providers are via Zoom, and there are no one to talk to over the weekend. People who receive "treatment" from Dakota Place usually just watch TV, sleep and play on their phones. Med providers are only available during the week and only during normal business hours, and if no one else needs to see the provider that day you might get to. There are suppose to be scheduled activities, but most clients do not want to do them so groups are not held. The schedule groups usually consist of collages, drawing/ coloring and other busy work. There are no considerations for food allergies or preferences, staff cooks all meals and usually breakfast is not served until it has sat on the dinning room table for an hour. You must be in bed during quiet time, you may depending on certain staff get up to use the bathroom once, otherwise you will be asked to leave against medical advice. Meds are administered by staff that is not actually trained to hand out meds, they are given out at set times dispite when you are actually suppose to take them, and you may not go to bed early (some staff will not wake up clients for meds) or sleep late because you learn fast not to knock on staff door. Sadly, though most clients spend their stay sleeping. If you actually are in need of psychiatric help stay away from Dakota Place!!!!
