Nearly 400 people a day benefit from the services provided by Spectrum Health Systems' Outpatient Treatment Center in Haverhill, which opened in 2014. Client response has been overwhelmingly favorable. A private, nonprofit organization founded in 1969, Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. is committed to improving the lives of those impacted by addiction and mental health issues. Spectrum has established itself as a pioneer in the field during the last 50 years by assisting many people in overcoming addiction and taking back their lives.
Today, Spectrum provides a full range of services across the state of Massachusetts, including medication-assisted therapy, outpatient counseling, residential rehabilitation, inpatient detoxification, and peer recovery support. The organization has state contracts around the country to provide specialized treatment for criminal offenders with histories of drug misuse, and it runs many residential programs in collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services.
More than 6,000 people get treatment for drug use disorders from Spectrum Health Systems, the top provider in New England, every day. With the entire spectrum of services offered by the organization, clients may easily move between various care levels as their recovery advances or, if needed, seek higher levels of therapy.
Inpatient detoxification, clinical stabilization, residential treatment, outpatient counseling, medication for drug use disorders, mobile therapy for opioid use disorders, and peer recovery support are all included in Spectrum's continuum of care. In addition, Spectrum works with state and local correctional authorities to provide customized programming for those engaged in the judicial system. Spectrum is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services to run residential programs for adolescents and young adults.
The cornerstone of Spectrum's therapy initiatives is education. Motivational interviewing and enhancement approaches are used by Spectrum to actively include clients and promote their active engagement. Client education about drug use disorders, treatment alternatives, overdose prevention, and critical recovery skills is the goal of both individual and group sessions. The organization teaches clients how to control cravings and impulses, recognize internal and environmental triggers, create coping mechanisms, control anger, strengthen interpersonal bonds, become better parents, and avoid relapsing by using evidence-based curriculum. Thorough planning for ongoing treatment guarantees that patients are ready for the next phase of their healing process.
