The Livengrin Foundation was founded in 1966 by Standish Forde Hansell, an entrepreneur and advertising executive from the Philadelphia region. The foundation was established on a 44-acre tract of land in Bucks County. Initially planned as a gentlemen's retirement community to provide a pastoral lifestyle, Hansell was convinced by reliable friends to convert the estate into one of Pennsylvania's first out-of-hospital alcohol treatment centers.
The Livengrin Foundation belongs to the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP) and has Joint Commission accreditation.
