La Amistad has been a turning point in my recovery. I traveled from Upstate NY all the way to La Amistad because I heard they were a solid and successful treatment facility. The day I walked through the doors, the entire staff and residents made me feel comfortable and at home. The staff and counselors at La Amistad care a lot about the residents and our everyday needs and care. It takes personal effort and work to get where you need to be, but without the help of La Amistad I would never had such a positive turning point in my life. Thank you La Amistad

La Amistad was a turning point in my life and I feel that going there may have been the difference between me having to go on disability or returning back to work. The facility is great and there are many staff that were very helpful, Sharon, Peggy, Mimi, Lori and Kelly W. to name a few. The facility is clean and the kitchen did a great job trying to accommodate my diet. Thank You to everyone for the wonderful care!! I wish you all the best!!!

My experience at La Amistad exceeded my expectations! I have admittedly been a high maintenance patient. The staff have been very patient with me and accommodating with my special requests. Dr. B. was the best psychiatrist I have ever had (and I've had five) and even used very recent studies to bring my thyroid more in to balance when conventionally it was fine. Miss Sharon was customer service central! She saw to my cardiology appointments and shows great respect to me and my cohorts. The group therapy talk sessions balanced CBT, DBT, and mindfulness. The facility provides yoga, gym, pool, and beach volleyball! Once I started to feel balanced, I felt like I was living at a terrific camp! Thank you very much. I would definitely come back again!

This place is amazing! It was great to have a little pause from reality so that I could have time to work on myself. it was a little intense having so many groups in one day, but if you really work the program there are so many resources and opportunities open to you. The staff is a good mix of people and every patient and staff member here is so sweet. The meeting outings were so helpful, just to see how a meeting worked and it made it less intimidating than going on my own. I'm really going to miss the people I've met here, but I'm so happy I came.

My experience at La Amistad was very beneficial to my recovery, spiritual growth and well being. I have been to 2 other treatment facilities and La Amistad was the most professional, clean and beneficial treatment facility I have attended. The group classes they facilitate are relevant and applicable to the obstacles I face to maintaining my sobriety and mental health. The facility is very clean and equipped to handle client's needs. La Amistad incorporates several extra curricular activities including fitness, outings and a swimming pool to help clients reintegrate fun, laughter and joy in there lives. The staff is top notch and very professional. I was treated with kindness, dignity and respect. Sharon Hanns was one of the first staff members I got to know upon walking through the door and she was a God send for me especially in my first week of treatment. Corey Lief was also very helpful in aiding my treatment and recovery. The rest of the staff including the nurses all played a vital role in helping me throughout the program. I can confidently say this was the best experience I have had at any treatment facility and highly recommend it to anyone looking for recovery ad healing.

This is a safe and secure place that nurtures teens during a difficult time in their lives. Many reviews challenge the structure that is provided, but is needed for these teens to heal.

I’ve been out of la amistad for almost a year now, if you have never been to rehab to be honest I do not recommend this place. They kept me there for 3 months which resulted in a bill of 50,000$ and all they did was give me therapy once a week, pretty bad food, I told them I was vegetarian but they still insisted that I eat chicken and beef every day for lunch and dinner, and if I refused I had the option of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (which was not even vegan so if you’re vegan I don’t recommend going here at all) . Really all they did was put me on very strong antipsychotics which I am trying to get off to this day. Only a few staff members were nice, and the only credentials they have to have to work with and counsel mentally challenged or ill people was a HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA. If you go ESPECIALLY watch out for Ms. Ida; she is very disrespectful and constantly talks about how she doesn’t care about the patients, only about getting paid. All in all, please see a psychiatrist and therapist before getting put in here. If you really need a place to retreat to, I don’t recommend this place BUT being away from the real world for a couple months did help me heal. Best luck to anyone dealing with any sort of issues in their life.

This amazing staff was there for me during the worst time in my life. Professionals committed to excellence who love what they do and are dedicated to the overall wellness of their patients. This place welcomes you no matter what stage of your journey you are in, and the community created by the residents totally supports each and every individual. If you are in need of assistance with mental health or substance abuse issues, this place is the answer.

Good program, but some off the staff members (and doctors) treated me unethically and morally wrong. I have a debilitating ANS dysfunction called POTS, after explaining it I was told to “stop being an attention seeker.” I had to use a walker to stand and to get around and carry a big tray during dining time/carry laundry basket... I excepted help that was offered by other patients a few times, which is a no.no there. Then I was told if another patient was seen assisting me they would recommend that I seek treatment elsewhere. Plus “our staff will not be helping you”. For another day they played the game but eventually Baker-acted me. That’s what they do with problem patients- and never let you return. So ya I learn some good mental health stuff for two days but my disability just doesn’t cut it for them. (Of course they made up an ethical excuse to my insurance. lol)

La Amistad was everything that I expected in a beautiful inpatient facility. The staff was very helpful. Staff members Corey L, Sharon, Peggy, and Steven really have a niche for getting through to people. I would highly recommend this facility to others looking to improve any aspect of their life.
