I will be celebrating 9 years of sobriety in October and I truly believe that without New Found Life, it might not have gone this way. The structure and support that I received, along with completely relearning how to live life, are things that I am forever grateful for. The continued love and support from ed and Mary Ann to this day mean more to Me than anything. This is not like any treatment center, this is a new family that shows you and helps you find a new way to live

In 2 months I celebrate 10 years of sobriety. It’s only because of the New Found Life family. I went into treatment with no hope and came out with an entirely new outlook on life. It’s true I got sober, but I also got deep connections with lifelong friends, and most importantly a new relationship with myself. I found inner peace. Every time I’m in town I visit the owners Ed and Mary Ann Spatola. It’s a lot like showing up to a relatives house for a holiday gathering. Lots of smiles and hugs with an underlying feeling of joy. I literally owe my life to these people. Yes, they gave me the tools to overcome addiction, but what I’ll always remember is how they loved me unconditionally while I learned to love myself. Ryan

My brother-in-law has had a long-running battle with alcohol. He never was able to last much more than a few months clean and sober. He did enroll for a stay at a fairly well known facility in Newport Beach. Following his completion of the program he was placed in a sober living group. Unfortunately, this group seemed to have more problems than solutions and it wasn't long before he had lost again. And again. And again. His pattern was so repetitive that he was no longer accepted at the local detox facility. The police were growing tired of picking him up off of the sidewalks and alleys to bring him back to his sister's and my home. Through his work union and intense intervention he was able to get to the program at New Found Life (NFL). The experience there was totally different. It was personal, immersive and complete; and was exactly the personal attention and structure that he needed. The program has an excellent focus on the AA principles. NFL was able to bring him to a stable sobriety and they included a great deal of the medical and psychological attention that had been previously missed. It was determined in the course of neurological examinations and testing that he had damaged his brain by drinking to the extent that he was diagnosed as having alcohol induced dementia. NFL continued to carry him on a “scholarship” basis far beyond the usual program length. It was this extra time of protection and guidance that allowed him to recover physically and mentally enough that he was able to function at a level that was not possible before NFL. Ed Spatola and the staff at NFL expended a great deal of personal time and resources to guide my brother in law. They eventually arranged for him to become a resident at a sober living facility that is able to deal with his mental limitations (short term memory loss and occasional confusion). His social skills are better and smoother and he seems to finally understand why it is truly in his best interest not to drink or use drugs. I personally believe that he would not be alive and playing his guitar were it not for the excellent guidance, handling, and effort put forth by New Found Life.

The name itself, New Found Life, is exactly what you find from this treatment center. I did not know what to expect entering a treatment center, but i only pray that other treatment centers are ran just like New Found Life. It is not just a alcohol/ drug treatment center. It is a treatment center that focuses on rebuilding ones mind, heart and soul. If you chose to listen and embrace what is being offered to you, you can learn how to accept that you are sick and that there is a cure... if you want it. The owners, staff, counselors, and therapists all care about you from the first day. Yes there are rules, some which seem strange, but as an addict, one needs rules. An addict, left to there own devices and rules will for sure run riot upon loves ones and themselves. So I truly KNOW, NFL, gave me the tools to save my life, find a new life, a deal with any problems that arise without having to drink or use. And for that, I would like to say thank you.

From the moment I called New Found Life to the moment I entered into treatment I felt the love and warmth from the whole staff starting with Ed. I had been to treatment before but New Found Life was different. It was like the family that I never had. They showed me how to build a solid sober foundation. Introduced me to AA which gave me the tools to stay sober one day at a time. After leaving New Found Life anytime I have ever needed to talk the phone was always answered with a friendly voice and the advice and direction I needed. When anyone ever asks me for recommendations for treatment I always say yes I know a place.... my home away from home New Found Life. I have over 8 years of sobriety and I will forever be grateful to Ed and his staff for never giving up on me and giving me a second chance at a beautiful content life.

New Found Life changed my life. I arrived broken, irritable, and full of discontent. I had tried other programs, but for me they never worked. New Found Life gave me all the tools I needed to succeed in a happy drug and alcohol free life. I am fully in debt to those at New Found Life for assisting me in saving myself from death. I am forever greatful with 11 years of sobriety, and you will be too!

The foundation of my recovery was developed at NFL. The book studies, meetings, the structure were all instrumental in my development and helped lay the groundwork for living life in sobriety. sobriety date, 7-13-1996

I love this place, I love the owners, the staff, and the environment that is created by people who care. They are family to me, they come to events that my family have, they call me, they ask about my mom and they genuinely care about each and every single person that comes through their facility. Whenever i have needed or asked for help they were quick to do it with no hesitation, that's what family does for one another. A little over 6 years ago i came into treatment here and i definitely left a different person. I can't say that i liked New Found Life while i was in treatment, that's because i was egotistical, selfish and self-centered. Only thing they wanted me to do was change everything, and they would provide the tools for me to do it. What can i say, i have solid friends a close relationship with my family and i get to enjoy ever day.

My son went to New Found Life in 2005 and it was a great experience and after his treatment worked for them before coming home in 2009-2010. The owners Ed and Maryann Spatola are worthy their weight in gold. They really care about their clients. They instill the pricipals of AA and sobriety in their clients and they saved my son's life. They both stay in touch with him. This treatment center for us and my son worth every single penny we paid.

I am the daughter of a past resident of New Found Life, Michael Brown. He first came to the house in 2001. As we read the reviews here, we felt the need to tell our story. I was only 2 years old when my dad entered treatment and in my opinion this was the best place for our family. In his words, "Sitting in men's central one more time, a broken man was given one more chance at life. The judge wanted to give me 15 years for alcohol and drug related crimes, but my lawyer at the time(a friend of Ed's and a supporter of NFL) had encouraged me to take a deal. The deal was to spend one year at New Found Life. I had been to several other treatment centers in the previous 20 years, and several times to county jail. I figured I'd give it another shot(can't be worse than prison). I came with a list of terms and conditions, with no room for error. NFL guided me through each term and condition of my sentence in that first year. Also, I learned how to be a man, a father, a son, a brother, and a friend. I learned to be accountable. I entered the community of Long Beach with no knowledge on how to lead a life without drugs and alcohol. Through group, step, and big book studies, I slowly changed my life. Individual attention with my counselor was important, because I was full of questions. If he didn't have the answer, he found someone that did. The treatment team at NFL cared personally about each resident. It took a while for me to understand all of the rules and regulations at NFL, but it all seemed to come together at around 8 or 9 months sober. I started to understand why I did some of the things I did. Having collected over 60 phone numbers of men in the program, I had developed a sober network of people that were on the path I needed to be on. I had a sponsor, I was working the steps, I was productive around the house and the community. I was communicating with my family and doing everything I could to get custody of my daughter back." It's Ally again. I'm currently 19 years old, in my second year at California Baptist university studying to be a Music Educator. What else can I say? My life would've never been the same if I didn't have NFL. Although my mom led a different path, my dad taught me the same aspects of accountability and respect that he was taught. I look up to him in many ways for maintaining sobriety for 17 years now. He continues to go to meetings, he owns a business, he continues to provide a nice living for my sister and I and I was always be grateful to NFL for that. In those 17 years, we have stayed connected with NFL. We've gone to countless meetings, parties, gatherings, and events and have never heard a single bad report on NFL. After all these years, I felt the need to stay something about this place. We've first-handedly witnessed hundreds, if not thousands, successfully complete the program at New Found Life. We are blessed to be a part of the NFL family.

I love this place, it has given me a knew way of living. They have never given up on me even when I gave up on myself multiple times. I came in a homeless junkie and now I have a job, go to college, and more importantly the love of my family and a respectful place in the community and in people's lives.
