My cousin finished her treatment here just a couple months ago. Man they were so good to her here! They treated her with so much respect! After her parents passed away, we took her in and it was challenging for my family. She was struggling with alcohol addiction when she got checked-in. My mom caught her and her "friends" drinking in her room a few times and the last time was too much. But ever since that night, its been a complete switch. I haven't seen her this happy and positive in a real long time. I can't say enough how thankful we are that my little cousin is doing so well now!

I developed an eating disorder that led to me getting checked in to Paradigm Malibu. I was being bullied at school by other girls because of my weight. I had always been a little self-conscious about my weight (I was only a little over weight). But that didn't stop the girls from making fun of me and making me feel bad about myself. I started keeping thorough track of my calorie intake, but what I didn't realize was that I was really harming myself because I was eating so little. My parents checked me in when they noticed the extreme change my body had made. I was thin and bony, with no muscle; I looked extremely malnourished and was always tired. They knew something was wrong and I'm glad they took action for me. I've now been out for a few months and I feel so much better about myself! I'm happier and full of energy. I rely on my friends and family when I need support. The biggest thing that Paradigm Malibu helped me with was creating a strategy for boosting my self-confidence and changing my mindset. I no longer look at myself and see someone overweight. Now I look in the mirror and I see someone healthy, strong, and confident. I wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't for Paradigm Malibu. Thank you!!!!

I hardly know where to begin. Our son suffered with depression and anxiety for many years and started to self medicate with pot and Xanax by age 17. He was quite resistant to treatment and had two admissions to Paradigm. With our family therapist Dustin, we did as a family start to get to the core of some of the family dynamics that were a large part of his angst. Our son, however, was a very tough nut to crack in opening up about why he was acting out, and the staff suggested we send him to a wilderness program. What I really appreciated about Paradigm at that moment was that they were open to finding alternative therapies when what they had to offer was not working. One year later, at the age of 18, our son relapsed and asked to return to Paradigm because he knew he was in trouble and also knew he could get the help he needed there. After 6 weeks, we saw that he actually had learned a lot at the other admissions but was only now ready to use them. He finally was able to develop insights and maturity that amazed us. All of the ancillary staff are unendingly supportive and compassionate. I especially benefited from the Saturday morning parent groups with Cindy where we parents were all able to develop a comaraderie that comes from suffering with the same very difficult experience of dealing with a troubled teen child. Our remarkable family therapist, Markus, also ran the multifamily group where all parents and clients met. He encouraged us to always "dig deeper" and learn to express all the locked away emotions that we all feared and didn't even realize we had. These times were so healing for parents and child. And words cannot even express the gratitude we have towards Steve, our son's personal therapist. Our son left Paradigm a truly changed person, as are we as parents. In the exact words of our son recently, "Paradigm will always be dear to my heart". I ditto those sentiments exactly.

There is no better place to put a teen struggling with any type of mental health or chemical dependency issues. The owners are on-site and are therapists and psychologists. They are not off-site business people like many other teen treatment facilities. The go above and beyond and truly care about the kids they treat. The facilities are immaculate, safe and well-organized. Their program is comprehensive and insightful. If you are considering treatment for your son or daughter, give these guys a call and go in to talk with them and tour the facilities. You will NOT regret the decision.

Enrolling our daughter at Paradigm was one of the best decisions that our family has ever made. She has been dealing with depression and anxiety since she was a small child. We spent a great deal of time and energy going from doctor to doctor trying one medication after another with limited results and major side effects. When we arrived at Paradigm, they did a series of psychological tests and a thorough psychiatric assessment. They then took her off of all but one of her medications. Through individual, group and family therapy she started to address some very real, very difficult issues. We had been unaware that she had experienced a trauma when she was very young. This realization, and the work that we did around it allowed us to focus on the real issue at hand rather than using medications to simply treat her symptoms. After she graduated from Paradigm she returned to her home school where she is now thriving. No parent could hope for more for their child.

Paradigm exceeded and continues to exceed all of our expectations. Our son had been isolating more and more over the last two years. He was withdrawn, depressed, angry, staying in his room, skipping school. He has always been a good, loving kid, so it was doubly painful to watch and feel so powerless to change anything. Paradigm turned all of this around. After some extensive efforts we got him in to treatment and it has changed the trajectory of his life. His depression is managed, he is thriving at school, he is gaming in moderation, he has quality friends to spend time with. We continue to attend family alumni days every Saturday. We do so, not because we have to, but because we want to. We never leave Paradigm without feeling closer as a family.

This program is the best thing that has happened to our family. I strongly recommend it. If you're trying to find a safe place to get your child help - you can't do better. I know how terrifying it is to make this kind of decision. I make myself available to talk to any parent who wants to know what our experience is like. Just let the folks at Paradigm know and they will put you in touch with myself or any number of parents that they have helped! Thanks a lot.
