Next Step Recovery saved my life and it is a wonderful place to get your life back on track. The staff is amazing! When I got there I needed a great deal of help learning how to take care of myself and I learned how to do that and to be happy at the same time. I am sober and happy now and Next Step played a key role in helping me to achieve this goal I tried on my owe before and failed. I love Susan and Terry like family and they are two of the best people I have ever met in my life. They are very honorable people and they will help house members to start living in a manner that will save their lives. I was not always a perfect house member and I did make plenty of mistakes and they did not baby me. I had to do the correct thing and fix my mistakes and it was hard at times but it saved me being accountable for my mistakes. I will always be grateful to Next Step Recovery and if you are serious about changing your life and living sober then I highly recommend Next Step Recovery.

After struggling with addiction for 20 years and spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on upscale rehabilitation centers I found Next Step. I have been sober now for 2 1/2 years and the happiest I've ever been. My life is beyond anything I ever had the courage to pray for or realize I was worthy of having. This is a compassionate family and I'm grateful to know them as such. Before coming to Next Step I made the decision to do what it takes to be sober - I MADE THE DECISION. Next Step provided the necessary tools for long time sobriety and I took full advantage of using these tools. These are time tested therapeutic tools. Even though I am no longer a resident Susan or Terry still give me valuable time for one-on-one sessions. I'm sorry that two of the reviewers feel slighted. Their experience is very different than mine and the men I have known that go through the program. All it takes is intentions and action to quit living that life. The tools are there - all I did was make the decision to use them.

I worked with Next Step as an intern while gaining my master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I grew a great deal as a prospective counselor through learning from the Next Step staff, who all consistently brought empathy, genuine-ness, and a helpful and constructive attitude to Next Step residents. I think Next Step strengths comes through its structure, its flexibility in meeting people in need "where they are," and in its staff and clinical focus.

Next Step helped me get my life back on track. It held me accountable and also provided quality client-centered care. The program provided weekly case management. It offered counseling, transportation, and classes on Life Skills, Mindfulness, and Relapse Prevention each week in addition to the weekly community meeting. The program helped me to develop a network with other guys trying to get better. The program director, executive director, admissions director, and all of the staff always treated me with respect and in a professional manner. The staff empowered me, and the program was crucial for my recovery.

Ignore Chris B....Susan and all the staff at next step are some of the best people I have ever met. I MADE the choice to relapse after almost two years with Susan, and countless others. Then, I called Susan from rehab almost 3 years later, finally hitting my bottom. Susan HELPED me get back on my feet and back out into the world. I am now a successful, clean, sales manager for a car dealership. I didn't grow up in an ivory tower and silver spoon up my ass, so if I may say so, the accommodations that Susan provided for me and hundreds of other men over the years goes above and beyond what any other person would do. If your looking for a vacation, better go to Passages Malibu. If you want to stay clean, make life long friends, and get a life beyond your wildest dreams, go to Next Step Recovery. Susan, thank you. I love you and all the guys at Next Step.

Susan and her staff cared deeply about my brother while he resided in the Next Step Recovery home. Not only did he try his best to stay sober and fight the urge to relapse, Susan stayed in contact with my whole family after my brother lost the battle to drugs. She, along with every staff member she employed, was not just "in it for the money", as is made obvious by her continual support and friendship after my brother was gone from her facility. The system may not work for everyone, especially if you're not happy living by the house rules (that are each set in place for good reason) but they are truly caring people who do what you'd expect and say they will do. Would highly recommend Next Step Recovery and will always be thankful for the help they provided my brother and my family.

Next Step Recovery provides men with an opportunity to not only stay clean, but to learn how to live again. The staff are available 24/7, and they are ready and highly capable to handle any of the needs of the guys. The program provides activities, job opportunities, life skill coaching, volunteer work, and fantastic recovery support. Susan and her staff have SAVED lives, and they continue to do so on a daily basis. I am blessed that I have been able to be a part of such a wonderful organization for the past two years.
