Native American Rehabilitation - Association of the Northwest

In Portland, Oregon, the Native American Rehabilitation Association (NARA) is a committed addiction treatment facility that caters to both adults and adolescents. Through both inpatient and outpatient facilities, NARA offers comprehensive care to American Indians and Alaska Natives. The organization specializes in age-specific, culturally sensitive mental health and drug misuse treatment services. In addition, the center provides case management services and includes programs specifically designed for clients who identify as LGBTQ+ or who have co-occurring problems. 
 
The Native American Medicine Wheel, which incorporates health, wellness, mental health, sobriety, and cultural customs, serves as the foundation for NARA's distinctive residential program. The team provides standard drug misuse treatment coupled with culturally relevant programs and activities. This covers parental assistance, addiction and relapse prevention education, and individual and group therapy. Master's-level counselors, clinical supervisors, professional drug and alcohol counselors, psychologists, and a family nurse practitioner make up NARA's multidisciplinary team. Referrals to community-based mental health practitioners, physicians, and dentists are made when appropriate.
 
NARA offers group and individual counseling, cultural education and activities, childcare services, and support for parents as part of its outpatient therapy program. Services are available throughout the day and at night to improve accessibility. On top of that, there's childcare available during planned visits, and qualified recovery mentors provide on-call recovery assistance on weekends and after hours. 
 
Following treatment, individuals are directed to opportunities for transitional housing, physical and mental health treatments, and Good Medicine 12 Step Peer-Based Recovery support groups as required. While NARA makes an effort to be in-network with the majority of commercial insurance plans, customers are recommended to confirm coverage with their providers since there may be differences in out-of-network benefits. 
 
NARA NW is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1970 in Portland, Oregon, and is run and controlled by Indians. NARA NW began as an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment facility and has since expanded to offer a variety of services, such as residential and outpatient family treatment programs, child and family services, primary care, multiple adult mental health locations, wellness centers, and transitional housing for Native women and children. The organization's guiding principle, "without the family circle there will be no future," is that family is essential to one's future well-being. 
 
NARA NW's services are firmly rooted in the spirituality and culture of traditional India. As a token of appreciation for NARA NW's assistance to American Indian and Alaska Native communities, sacred fire circles, drums, totem poles, and pipes have been presented. The totem pole is located at the entrance of the residential complex, and the pipe and drum are actively used in holy rituals. NARA NW is dedicated to promoting and protecting Indian people's mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being while guaranteeing a comprehensive approach to recovery and wellbeing.
