This place saves lives. They are spread too thin. The beds are coated in plastic in case people pee on them, which makes them not comfortable. It is like sleeping on a balloon. Good people, great service, don't drop the soap.

I have already been to the retreat when I was a little kid, around 4, 5 or 6. I am now 17 1/2 and I will turn 18 on July 4, 2018. I am not going back to that hell hole ever again ! People say they will put me there b/c they are feed up and don't wan't to deal with me and my depression. It is getting the best of me and it is slowly killing me what should I do ?

Treatment needs improvement but overall it is a safe and semi comfortable atmosphere.

The Brattleboro Retreat has provided professional and caring service to myself and many others that I am aware of. Never once have I felt mistreated and have always received priority care from Retreat personnel. In general people need to start taking responsibility for their own situations and stop blaming someone else for their shortcomings. we all have something to work on but the work begins at home. There is no magical cure. Take responsibility for yourself. It's interesting that there are those out to smear the name of an organization that do good things for people that need it. No organization can control what happens 100% of the time and if someone is determined to commit suicide, they will figure out a way to do it anyplace.
