Alcohol and drug addiction can impact people of all ages and walks of life. When you reach the point where it’s time to get sober, finances can be a factor in how and where you seek treatment. State-funded drug rehabs operate with funding dispersed by state governments. These funds are allocated to assist residents with recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. These state-funded drug rehab programs are also suitable for people who do not have insurance coverage that includes addiction recovery. Treatment centers can offer extensive services, including customized and medically supervised detox to keep patients safe and comfortable as well as both inpatient and outpatient addiction counseling. Treatment programs can also include continued maintenance counseling after discharge from an inpatient program.

Receiving Care From State-Funded Drug Rehab Programs

Every state has unique and specific requirements for government-funded addiction rehabilitation. To receive treatment from a state-funded facility, a patient will first need to qualify for care. This may occur when a resident enters a different division of a state’s services, such as criminal justice or social services. A resident may also contact a facility directly to seek care. Generally, to receive state-funded care, a patient needs to provide proof of residence and income and personal information to verify the addiction and the need for rehab. State-funded drug rehab centers have limited funding, so waiting lists to get admitted to a program are common, especially for inpatient treatment. States may also prioritize treatment for certain groups of people, such as pregnant women. While people are waiting for inpatient care, some states provide outpatient treatment and therapy.
