I have a rare injury from playing competitive hockey. It's a neurological disorder that causes problems with my neck and back muscles, severe spasms and pain. I have been dealing with this for 13+ years, since I was 15! I have been on absolutely every single pain medication ever created and on huge amounts! It's literally the only thing that helps minimize some of the pain and kept me going at all. And since there is no cure for dystonia, the only real options unfortunately are medications.. it's a life nobody would envy.. dr's, pills, more dr's, more pills, on and on and on. Been to literally hundreds of dr's and tried even more medications over 13 yrs! The medication sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. But the doses and amounts always increased more and more to the point where i'm maxed out and still in severe pain.. i've had my insurance changed so many times and had to go to so many different dr's because of it, or because they decide they no longer want to prescribe heavy medicine like that, or want to try something different that most likely doesn't help, or decide to leave or change their practice! It's extremely frustrating! So after the last dr left the state and went home, the new 1 I was forced onto didn't want to prescribe what id been taking and having luck with the previous year.. so I was forced to go out on the street and find any medicine I could to help and so I wouldn't withdrawal and become deathly sick! Eventually I was addicted with no dr overseeing my care. I was in a nonstop horrible cycle and needed a chance. I had heard about many people in similar situations changing to methadone and it was the last medication I hadn't tried!.. this was about a year ago. Took about 6 weeks to get to the dose I really needed and although I should be on quite a bit more, it still helps a ton. It helps for most of the day with my severe pain, reduced the amount and severity of my migraines, helped with my appetite (maybe a little too much since i've gained over 50 lbs in 8 months), and helped me to stop using and having to go find meds on the street or through acquaintances or friends every day like I was! It has been a very long hard process getting to this point but I don't know where id be right now if it wasn't for this clinic! They have helped me so much.. and although it took me a long time to stop using everything I was, they have been very patient and have helped me every step of the way! I am just so grateful for BHG being here and helping me with everything they have! In a sense, they saved my life and gave me a new outlook on life and i'm so grateful for that and everyone there!! Everybody is very kind, caring, understanding, and respectful! They understand how difficult this is and how much dedication and commitment it takes to keep going and not give up! Every employee is very friendly and they don't judge anyone! Dave is my counselor and i've had tons of great talks with him. He gives me great suggestions to help with everything and spends as much time with you as you need! He listens abd truly cares about your wellbeing, just like the rest of the staff! Even though it's extremely hard to wake up in horrible pain or feeling very sick and sometimes is very hard to drag yourself over there, you have the peace of mind just knowing you will be treated well and knowing that everyone working there understands what you're going through and how difficult it is! And they make the experience absolutely as comfortable for you as possible!! Thank yous for absolutely everything you do and for not giving up on me! It truly means so much to me and my family! And we will never forget that! The clinic also offers suboxone now. They also accept many different insurances including Medicaid! They have a dr, 2 nurses, at least 3 counselors, and a manager who kind of runs the place and makes sure everything is running smoothly! You can always find someone to talk to who listens and sincerely cares! If you need anything or have any concerns, someone will always help you!! Thanks, Brandon
